Qs = U x CLTDs x Area

Where:

 Qs                = Sensible cooling load, Btuh
 U                = U-Value, or heat transfer coefficient from Table 4A Manual J 8, Btuh/ft²·°F
 CLTDs                = Summer temperature difference (based on outside - inside temp. and Table 4A), °F
 Area                = Net area of surface, square feet (ft²)

Ref: Manual J 8 - Page 7-1, 7-3

Note:        Sensible cooling HTM values, defined by the equation HTMs = U x CLTDs, are determined from the summer temperature difference, daily range, material type, and insulation.
