System Data (Duct Design)

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The System Data - Duct Design page lets you enter duct related properties for the HVAC systems in your project.

If you are doing load calculations in your project, there is more information that you can enter for the same system on the System Data - Load Calculation page.

Name:  Specifies the system name you want to see on the reports.

Fan External SP:  Specifies the external static pressure of the system fan, not including any loss due to the air handling equipment. If you leave this input at zero the external static pressure will be back calculated from the losses in the duct system.

Device Pressure Losses:  Specifies the static pressure loss that occurs within the air handling equipment.  You need to fill in only those items that are present, not every row.  For example, the first 4 rows are for different types of coils or heat exchanger, of which you probably only have one.

For coils, heat exchanger, filters and balancing damper the specifications for the equipment should include information about how much static pressure loss the device causes in an air stream of a given CFM.  Simply look up the loss amount from your equipment specifications and enter it here.  For supply outlet and return grille the values are typically both about 0.03 in.wg. loss.
